A simple and flavourful spicy tangy red coloured chutney recipe ideal for idli, dosa and other south indian breakfast recipes. this recipe is prepared very similar to the traditional tomato chutney.
Ingredients:
Small Onion - 1 cup
Tomato - 1
Garlic -5
Gingelly oil - 1 Table spoon
Dry red chilli - 8
Mustard seed
asafoetida
Salt
How to do:
- firstly, add oil in dosa pan of fry tomatoes and roast little and keep aside.
- Then add small onion in same oil to fry in golden brown colour , then add salt , garlic, asafoetida . And keep aside.
- Then finally fry dry chilli , don't fry too much already dosa pan is heated well.
- cool completely and transfer to the blender.
- now prepare the tempering by heating the same oil
- Also add 1 tsp mustard seeds, allow the tempering to splutter.
- finally, pour the tempering over onion chutney , serve along with idli and enjoy.

notes:
Firstly, use small onion to make this chutney more flavourful.
Also roast the onions well, else the chutney will taste pungent.
